Easy Wheat Recipe

HONEY WHEATGERM SMOOTHIE (serves 1)

  • 200ml/7fl oz/scant 1 cup soya milk
  • 55g/2oz/ ¼ cup plain bio-yogurt
  • 125g/4 ½ oz/scant 1 cup strawberries, hulled
  • 1 large banana
  • 2 tsp wheat-germ
  • 2 tsp manuka honey

Whizz all the ingredients together in a blender and serve immediately.

SIMPLE WHOLEMEAL PIZZA CRUST

  • 540g/1lb 3oz/4 cups wholemeal flour
  • 2 tbsp dried yeast
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 500ml /17fl oz/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp clear honey
  • Topping of choice

Preheat the oven to 400°F/200°C/gas mark 6. Combine the flour, yeast and salt in a bowl. Add the water, oil and honey, and mix well. Cover with a moist cloth and leave to rise in a warm place for 10 minutes. Knead and press into a greased large pizza pan. Add the topping. Then, bake for 15-20 minutes.

WHEATGERM LOTION (for exfoliating the skin)

  • 250ml/9fl oz/1 cup milk
  • 85g/3oz/1 cup dried chamomile
  • 4 tbsp clear honey
  • 2 ½ tbsp wheat-germ

Pour the milk into a cup and add the chamomile. Leave to infuse for a few hours. Strain the liquid and discard the chamomile. Add the honey and wheat-germ, and mix well. Pour the lotion into a bottle and store it in the fridge for up to a week. Apply to the face and neck, then rinse off with warm water. Use as needed.
