Cantaloupe Melon
These succulent summer fruits offer a mouth-watering slice of nutritional goodness bursting with antioxidants to fight aging free radicals.
Cantaloupe melon is also known as rock or musk melon. Just one average slice provides more beta-carotene and vitamin C than your body can use in a whole day.
Cantaloupe melon is one of the richest sources of beta carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A, an antioxidant that is crucial for the production of disease-fighting lymphocyte cells.
This fruit is also rich in vitamin C, which we need for all immune functions and to protect us against colds, cancer and heart disease. Both vitamin C and beta-carotene are naturally anti-aging and aid cell repair and growth, as well as supporting the circulatory system.
Cantaloupe also contains potassium, which can lower high blood pressure and “bad” LDL cholesterol. Its high water content gives it a mildly diuretic action, helping to detoxify the body, while its B-vitamins enhance the production of energy and help to stabilize blood sugar.
The dense texture of this fragrant melon makes it a satisfying replacement for any foods you’re limiting, just as their sweetness meets the need that might otherwise be filled by empty-calorie snacks.
