Almond

These strongly flavored nuts contain healthy oils and other vitality-enhancing nutrients. Nibbling on almonds provides nutrients and energy for people who work out, with less risk of piling on unwanted kilos/pounds.

Almonds are one of the top sources of cancer-preventing antioxidant vitamin E, containing 24mg per 100g. This plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin both internally and externally, helping to pre serve elasticity and repair damage, and protect cells from free radicals, hence slowing down the aging process.

Almond oil, especially, is wonderfully soothing for the skin and effective in healing post-operative scars. Vitamin E also boosts immunity and protects the heart by keeping “bad” LDL cholesterol from oxidizing and sticking to artery walls.

The nuts also contain monounsaturated fats and plant sterols, which help to reduce the risk of heart disease, and the phytochemicals quercetin and kaempferol, which may protect against cancer, as well as laetrile, thought to be a powerful tumor-fighting compound.

Almonds are a good source of protein, needed for healthy growth and the repair of cells, making them great for vegetarians. The nuts also contain more fiber than any other nut, which helps almonds to promote healthy digestion through the efficient elimination of waste matter.

Almond Health Benefits are full of calcium, which aids muscle function and helps to keep bones strong and to stave off osteoporosis. Almonds also provide zinc, magnesium, and potassium. While zinc strengthens immunity and improves wound healing, magnesium increases energy and potassium reduces blood pressure, protecting against heart disease. Almonds are a useful food for dieters.

They may seem an odd weight-loss choice because they contain quite a lot of fat, but when scientists put two groups of people on low-calorie diets, one of which included almonds, the almond-eating group lost 50 percent more weight and fat than the others.

Almond Health Benefits are rich in monounsaturated fat, which helps you feel fuller for longer, and their high fiber content helps to keep blood-sugar levels steady and prevent hunger pangs. A dozen almonds contain just 90 calories along with a burst of protein and nutrients that combine to increase energy levels, so they are great to snack food for athletes, and sportsmen and women.
